Dr. Shyam Prasad Lohani

Dr. Lohani is a Pharmacist, Clinical Pharmacologist/Toxicologist, Suicidologist and a Professor at Nobel College and Hospital, Pokhara University since 2002. He is a pioneer in starting Nepal Poison Information Center in 1997 with the help of Central Ohio Poison Center, Columbus, Ohio. He was consulted for more than 150 thousand acute toxicity cases for toxicologic management mainly suicidal in nature from different hospitals throughout the country from 1997 till date. He has started Suicide Prevention Training and Research Center in Nepal in 2008. He is actively involved in Health Systems Research focusing in Suicide, Clinical Pharmacology/Toxicology, HIVAIDS, Pharmacoepidemiology, Pharmacoeconomics, Pharmaceutical care, NCDs, and International Health. He is writing opinion articles on the health issues for “The Rising Nepal (English National Daily) as a regular columnist.
